Harmanpreet Kaur was the star in India’s victory over the mighty Australians in WWC 2017 semi-final. The Indian eves have now secured the finals berth and will face hosts England in the title clash. Harmanpreet scored a brilliant knock of 171* to guide India to a total of 281 in 42 overs after the match was shortened due to rain. She hit a staggering 20 fours and seven sixes in her unbeaten 171 off 115 deliveries.
However, the 28-year-old cricketer did not miss out on the theatrics while reacting to an incident involving her strike partner Deepti Sharma. Kaur looked extremely animated about her teammate’s insurgency when she hit the ball to deep mid-wicket and tried to squeeze two runs out of it.
In what’s being described as the angriest century celebration of all time, Kaur slammed her bat and helmet on the ground and had some choice words for her partner Sharma. When Kaur called for the second in her attempt to retain the strike, Sharma was slow to react and very reluctant to get off both the women were thus forced to dive to make it in time.
After being adjudged not out, she unleashes a tirade upon Sharma and couldn’t hide her disdain as it could have cost her the wicket and given the way she was batting would’ve hampered the team’s cause in the innings.
Bowling department’s clinical performance seals victory
Mithali Raj and Deepti Sharma provided good support to Harmanpreet as she cruised to her 3rd ODI hundred. Elyse Villani and Alex Blackwell threatened to take the match away from India on two different occasions but they held on to their nerves for a win.
However, the bowling department also put up a clinical performance to restrict the Aussies. Deepti Sharma clinched three wickets while Jhulan Goswami and Shikha Pandey finished with two wickets each.
