Yo-Yo test has created quite a bit of stir in the Indian cricket this year. To make it to the national team, the team management has made it mandatory these days to clear the fitness test. The likes of Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh and Ambati Rayudu have been sidelined previously from the Indian team, This time around, the cricketers under the scanner are Akshdeep Nath and Ankit Rajpoot, both the Uttar Pradesh cricketers, who have failed the yo-yo test ahead of their first game in the Ranji Trophy.
The first round of India’s premier first-class tournament is all set to commence on Thursday with Uttar Pradesh set to face Goa in an Elite Group C encounter at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. Akshdeep Nath has been appointed the skipper of the team and he should lead from the front as far as the fitness is concerned.
According to the reports in Jaagran, the yo-yo fitness test of the possible 35 candidates of Uttar Pradesh players was conducted on October 21. However, despite failing the test both the cricketers will remain in the team as the domestic teams haven’t made clearing the test mandatory as of now. Apart from Nath and Rajpoot, Sourabh Kumar, Imtiyaaz Ahmed, Naved Ahmed and Deependra have failed the test as well.
The player with the best yo-yo score not in the team
Aryan Juyal proved to be the fittest cricketer in the yo-yo test as he scored 17.3. However, the selection panel led by Gopal Sharma hasn’t picked him in the 15-man squad in the Uttar Pradesh team for the Ranji Trophy. Aryan has the experience of leading the India U-19 team.
Also, Shivam Choudhari, who played for India A last year, hasn’t been selected in the team for the upcoming season having cleared the yo-yo test with 16.5 score which has left many perplexed.
