The third day of Quarter-finals of the Ranji Trophy 2019-20 culminated with the audience witnessing many impressive individual performances.

After amassing a massive total of 419 runs, Saurashtra decimated Andhra Pradesh in their first innings. Andhra could only post 136 runs on the board, courtesy a lethal bowling display by Saurashtra’s skipper Jaydev Unadkat and Dharmendrasinh Jadeja.

Unadkat wreaked havoc on Andhra batsmen as he scalped four wickets while conceding 42 runs. No other Andhra batsman apart from CR Gnaneshwar (43) was able to stick to the crease for a prolonged period. Meanwhile, Saurashtra lost two early wickets in their second innings but wicketkeeper Avi Barot ensured that they don’t suffer a batting collapse by scoring a gritty 44-run knock.

In the encounter between Karnataka and Jammu & Kashmir, the former posted 206 runs on the board on the back of Krishnamurthy Siddharth’s 76-run knock. He was also assisted by Manish Pandey‘s quick-fire 26. In reply, Jammu and Kashmir lost two early wickets in the form of Suryansh Raina and Henan Malik. However, Shubham Khajuria’s unbeaten 39-run knock saved his side from a batting debacle.

Gujarat flaunted their batting forte in the second innings too

After Bengal amassed 332 runs on the board in their first innings, they restricted Odisha to a total of 250 runs. Debasish Samantray and Shantanu Mishra emerged as vital cogs for Odisha after scoring half-centuries for their side. Coming on to Bengal’s second innings, Koushik Ghosh’s 41 and skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran’s 30 paved way for Bengal to get off a formidable start. At the end of day 3, the scoreboard reflected Bengal’s total as 79/2.

After a robust batting show, Gujarat thumped Goa in their first innings as the Amit Verma-led side was restricted to a total of 173 runs. Amit Verma emerged as the talisman for his side after smashing a brilliant half-century. In the second innings, Gujarat continued their run-scoring spree as the scoreboard reflected their total as 158/1 at the culmination of Day 3. Samit Gohel (70) and Bhargav Merai (49) are still at the crease and Gujarat are anticipated to amass a massive total yet again.
