Ranji Trophy 2019-20: Round 7, Day 3- Round-up

The third day in the seventh round of Ranji Trophy 2019-20 culminated with many sides cruising to the victory. Carrying their stellar form, Saurashtra cruised to a dominant victory over Baroda on Day 3 on the back of some impressive bowling performances. Jaydev Unadkat wreaked havoc on Baroda’s batting force in both innings as the pacer scalped six wickets in each innings.

He was also assisted by Prerak Mankad and Chetan Sakariya to dismantle Baroda’s batting line-up. The lower-order duo of Arpit Vasavada and Prerak Mankad exhibited their batting fore in the second innings by scoring 48 and 36 respectively so steer Saurashtra to the triumph. Unadkat was adjudged Man of the Match for his match-winning bowling performance.

Goa also registered a massive win on the board after decimating Arunachal Pradesh in both the innings. Goa skipper Amit Verma led his side from the front as he scalped nine wickets in the match. The clash also witnessed four Goa batsmen hitting centuries in the 1st innings. Sumiran Amonkar, Vaibhav Govekar, Smit Patel and Amit Verma smashed centuries to propel Goa to a mammoth total of 589/2.

Andhra also cruised to the victory by sweeping Kerela for a modest total of 135 in the second innings. The trio of Shoaib Md Khan, KV Sasikanth and Yarra Prithviraj scalped wickets at regular intervals to derail Kerala’s innings.

Chattisgarh also exhibited gritty batting against in-form Jammu and Kashmir side. Skipper Harpreet Singh showcased his class by playing a stable 116-run knock. Abhimanyu Chauhan also hit a brilliant half-century to bolster Chattisgarh’s batting force as they amassed 270 runs on the board before the stumps on Day 3.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan cruised to the victory by nine wickets after Hyderabad’s collapse in the second innings. After curbing Hyderabad to a modest total of 156 in the second innings, a steady ton from Manendar Singh cruised Rajasthan to a nine-wicket win.

The encounter between Himachal Pradesh and Mumbai could not be progressed due to bad light. On the previous day, prodigy Sarfaraz Khan continued his run-scoring spree as he smashed an unbeaten double ton to steer Mumbai to a total of 372 runs. He was assisted by Aditya Tare’s 62-run knock down the order. Sarfaraz has been gathering the headlines for his stellar batting display in two consecutive Ranji matches.
