Many games in the 7th round of the Ranji Trophy 2019-20 suffered due to rain as a couple of them had incomplete first innings. Karnataka were among the few teams that overcame the weather conditions. Despite five sessions of play was washed out in the first three days, they managed to defeat Railways by 10 wickets. The defending champions Vidarbha suffered their second consecutive defeat; this time against Gujarat by 4 wickets. Parthiv Patel was the top-scorer for Gujarat in his 100th Ranji game with 58 and 41* respectively.

All the statistical highlights from the 7th round matches of the Ranji Trophy 2019-20:

1Ravi Yadav of Madhya Pradesh became the first player in the history of first-class cricket to take a hat-trick in his first over on debut. He took a hat-trick on the first day of the match played in Indore against Uttar Pradesh.

1 – Each of Goa’s top four scored centuries in their first innings against Arunachal Pradesh – Sumiran Amonkar (160), Vaibabh Govekar (160), Smit Patel (137*) and Amit Verma (122*). This was the first-ever instance of a team’s top four scoring tons in a first-class inning on the Indian soil.

Overall, this was only the 11th time a first-class inning had top four scoring hundreds. Apart from Goa, in this round, Kent against Oxford University in 1982 is the only other instance in FC cricket where top four batters in an inning crossed 120.

2Sarfaraz Khan became only the 2nd Indian player to follow-up his triple century with a double ton in first-class cricket as WV Raman recorded such instance way back in 1989.

Sarfaraz’s unbeaten 226 is the 2nd highest score in the next innings after the triple century in first-class cricket. The highest is recorded by Sir Donald Bradman who followed up his 304 with a 244 in the 1934 season.

16 – Vinay Kumar now has taken a 5-wicket haul against 16 different opponents in the Ranji Trophy; the joint 2nd most by any player in the history of the tournament. Pankaj Singh has bagged a 5-fer against 18 teams while Sunil Joshi also claimed a 5-fer against 16 different teams in the Ranji Trophy. Vinay has picked up as many as 441 wickets in the Ranji Trophy history thus far; the joint 4th highest by a player.

100 – The game between Gujarat and Vidarbha in this round was Parthiv Patel’s 100th Ranji Trophy appearance. He thus became the first player to feature in 100 Ranji matches for Gujarat. The previous round match was Parthiv’s 100th FC appearance as a Gujarat player as he featured in an Irani Cup game for his state side in 2016/17 season when they won the Ranji Trophy.

1070 – Runs Rahul Dalal of Arunachal has scored in the ongoing Ranji Trophy season. He is now the first player to cross 1000-run mark in this Ranji Trophy. Rahul scored those 1070 runs across 13 innings at an average of 107.0 with three hundreds and five fifties.
