Following a successful 2021 summer, he earnt his national call-up and made his T20I debut against New Zealand on November 19 in Ranchi. 

Harshal has appeared in 23 T20Is ever since, bagging 26 wickets with an economy rate of 9.20 and best figures of 4/25. Following another impressive summer this year, he has cemented his place in India’s T20I squad. He is one of the Men in Blue’s specialist death-over bowlers and is viewed as a go-to wicket-taker.

Harshal is known for his subtle variations and deceptive nature with the ball. He has an effective slower ball and off-cutters, and a surprise bouncer, in his arsenal to catch the batters off guard. He has also had an impressive domestic career in the longer formats. In 60 List A games, he has taken 85 wickets with an economy rate 5.30 of and a strike rate of 30.2. He is also one of the finest first-class bowlers in India, taking 226 wickets with an average of 23.56.
