Steve Smith is undoubtedly one of the best batsmen of this generation. His records, especially in Tests are unmatched to anyone of this era. Some experts have credited his regular practice and loads of training for his success. However, some have pointed out his unique style of batting. The right-handed batsman from Sydney has a very different style of batting. Starting from keeping his feet close to each other and then slowly moving his right leg parallel to the pitch of the ball.

The style has made him quite popular with the fans. In addition to all this, he has a signature way of leaving the ball outside the off-stump. On his 31st birthday, Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan decided to wish the Aussie batsman in a different style by imitating his batting technique. In a video uploaded by the Sunrisers Hyderabad official Instagram page, Khan can be seen imitating the batting style of the ex-Australian skipper.

Rashid Khan’s imitation of Steve Smith brings back the memories from 2019 Ashes

Rashid Khan, who has been with the Sunrisers Hyderabad since 2017, uploaded a video of him imitating several batting stars a few months ago. This video contained a bit in which the leg-spinner did exactly what one might be familiar to see with Smith. From keeping his feet close to leaving the ball outside off-stump in his signature style, Rashid seems to have perfected his imitation of the Australian player.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad decided to upload this clip of the Afghanistan leggie to wish Steve on his 31st birthday. The franchise shared their best wishes for the batsman with the caption. “@rashid.khan19 doing his best @steve_smith49 impression on the Aussie’s birthday today! Have a good one, Steve! #OrangeArmy #SRH”, the caption read.

Steve Smith is the captain of the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. He was initially named as the captain ahead of the 2018 edition but his ball-tampering ban by Cricket Australia forced the BCCI to ban him from IPL 2018. He returned in the IPL 2019 in the Royals fold but he was not appointed as the skipper. Midway through the season, the franchise decided to make him in charge of the team by sacking the skipper, Ajinkya Rahane.
