Rashid Khan is one of the top spinners in the game: Kane Williamson

After playing some terrific cricket throughout the IPL 2018, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) failed to get their hand on the coveted title, as the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) recorded a resounding win by 4 wickets to lift their third trophy. The Kane Williamson-led side finished on the top position after the end of the league stages, however, they could not get past the MS Dhoni-led champion side, as SRH lost all their four matches this year against them.

Despite losing the final, there were some stunning performances by the runners-up team, especially from the Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan who played a pivotal role for SRH this year.

He is a world-class player: Williamson

Rashid Khan finished the IPL 2018 season with 21 wickets from 17 matches at an impressive economy of 6.74, which are just fabulous numbers for any bowler. Williamson also praised the 19-year old leg-spinner for his brilliant effort throughout the tournament. The New Zealander mentioned that he is looking forward to facing Rashid in international cricket and reckoned that he can be a challenging bowler to face in every format of the game.

“He’s a world-class player. We have seen that in this format but it’s great that he’s going to play some Test cricket. It is a challenge for anyone but an enjoyable challenge because he’s up there with the top spinners in the game,” said Williamson during the post-match presentation ceremony last night.

Rashid is a complete package

Williamson revealed that it is always great to face a bowler like Rashid in the nets. He stated that the Afghanistan leggie is capable to challenge the batsmen on any kind of surface, but on a wicket which is offering some help for the bowler, he becomes a more powerful bowler with all his various kinds of variations.

“It’s always a pleasure to face him at the nets and against him as well in the near future. A very, very good bowler but like you said, if the wicket’s responding, like any spinner that offers him a bit more. But, fantastic bowler. The full package Rashid is, it is great to have him in the side and he had a brilliant year,” the SRH skipper concluded by saying.
