South African cricket team is currently on a tour to India, where they are playing three-match T20I and Test series. On Sunday, the T20I series came to its conclusion, and now a tough Test series is waiting for visitors against India who is currently the number one Test team.
The Proteas will be quite happy with their performance in the T20I series where they made a strong comeback in the 3rd T20I and leveled the series. After the game in Bengaluru, during a press meet South African cricketer Rassie van der Dussen revealed something funny about his fellow teammate Tabraiz Shamsi over his unique celebration after taking Shikhar Dhawan’s wicket.
Proteas defeated India in a one-sided match by 9 wickets with 19 balls to spare in Bengaluru. India didn’t get off to a great start as they lost their top 3 batsmen at a score of 68, after which hosts never looked in a comfortable position in the match. In the 3rd T20I, Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan looked quite in good touch who remained the top-scorer of team India with 36 runs till Proteas left-arm chinaman arrived.
There was a battle going on the ground in the 3rd T20I between Tabraiz Shamsi and Shikhar Dhawan. In the 5th over of the match, Dhawan who was batting comfortably took the aerial route and went for two consecutive sixes against Shamsi in his first over, but in the 2nd over of his quota, he took the revenge by taking the precious wicket of Indian opener who was caught by Temba Bavuma. After taking the wicket, South African spinner celebrated in a unique way, in which he was found removing his boot and pretending to make a phone call with it.
Rassie van der Dussen on Tabraiz Shamsi’s celebration
After the match during the press conference, the South African batsman Rassie van der Dussen was asked about Shamsi’s celebration. Dussen said that Shamsi makes a call to Imran Tahir after taking any big wicket who is one of his heroes, “Yeah Shamsi always phones to Immy (Imran Tahir). Immy is obviously one of his heroes, and they work together a lot. So it was a nice moment for Shamsi to take a big wicket of Dhawan for us like Immy for us,” Dussen said.
South Africa will next play a three-match Test series against India and the 1st Test is going to kick off from 2nd October in Vishakapatnam.
