The warm-up game between Cricket Australia XI and India witnessed the visiting skipper Virat Kohli bowling a couple of overs today in Sydney. The moment he took the ball in the hand some of the enthusiastic Indian fans made their presence felt as the commentators also got excited to see what the Indian captain can offer with the ball. However, Ravi Ashwin has now given an insight to the media on why Virat took the onus upon himself.

Interestingly, he almost got a wicket off the very first delivery as the ball just fell short of the mid-wicket fielder. In the two-over spell which he sent down with his wrong foot, Virat conceded six runs without taking any wicket. With not much practice to roll his arm over, he dished out a few full-tosses which the batsmen couldn’t take advantage of.

Ashwin response leaves everyone amused

After the end of day’s play in which India conceded 356 runs and managed to pick six wickets in 102 overs they bowled. They were also dealt with a severe blow as Prithvi Shaw was ruled out of the first Test in Adelaide. Meanwhile, when Ravi Ashwin was asked about Virat Kohli’s bowling he jokingly said that the captain wanted to give lessons to other bowlers on how to bowl.

“I think he was just dishing out a lesson to all the bowlers on probably where should we bowl. Jokes (aside), I think he just wanted to bowl a couple of overs because the bowlers were tiring out before the second new ball came into play – that’s about it,” Ashwin said.

With CA XI not declaring any time soon, Team India would be keen to pick their remaining four wickets and then bat again in the second innings on the final day.
