While everybody else related to and interested in the Indian cricket are regretting India’s series loss in England, the team’s head coach Ravi Shastri has found himself in the middle of a dating controversy. The 56-year-old former Indian cricketer was not amused with the issue and reacted strongly to it, saying the reports bringing such news were the “biggest load of dung”.

The rumours had their wings when Mumbai Mirror published a report claiming that Shastri, who is separated from his wife Ritu for a decade now, is allegedly dating Bollywood actress Nimrat Kaur, 20 years younger to him. It was also reported that the two continued with their dating discreetly for two years now. The duo was also seen as brand ambassadors for a luxury car brand since 2015 and it further added fuel to the guesses.

Shastri came out with a strong reaction to the news when he told Mid-Day, “Nothing to say when it is the biggest load of cow dung.” When pressed further, he said, “Cow dung says it all.” He reiterated, “When I say cow dung, you must understand,” when asked when was the last time he met Kaur.

Kaur also rubbishes reports in her style

The ‘Airlift’ actress was also in no mood to oblige. On Monday, she posted a sarcastic tweet to rubbish the reports, “Fact: I may need a root canal. Fiction: Everything else I read about me today. More facts: Fiction can be more hurtful, Monday blues exist and I love ice cream. Here’s to trash free happy days ahead.”

Kaur is not the first actress, however, with whom Ravi Shastri found himself linked. During his heydays in the mid-1980s, one of the most talked about cricket-Bollywood ties was between him and actress Amrita Singh. There are also reports that the two got engaged in 1986, a year after Shastri won his ‘Champion of Champions’ award in Australia, though it didn’t materialise.

Shastri is currently in England where his coaching stint saw India losing their second successive overseas Test series defeat. India fumbled while chasing 245 to level the series in Southampton and lost the match by 60 runs to squander the series 1-3. The final match of the five-Test series will be played at the Oval from September 7.
