Team India head coach Ravi Shastri looked very much satisfied after the first Test against Sri Lanka at Kolkata ended in a draw. The very fact that the hosts could actually make a match out of the game in itself was an achievement. After having lost almost 150 overs in the first two days of the game due to the rains, the match eventually went to the final hour of play with the hosts dictating terms for a victory.

Earlier in the game, they were rocked back by the Sri Lankan bowlers. However, a fine ton by skipper Virat Kohli helped team India set up a target of 231 for the visitors in 47 overs. Team India managed to scalp as many as 7 wickets and looked set for the win too. However, the bad light ensured that Sri Lanka survived the major scare and settled for a draw.

Meanwhile, the praises for skipper Virat Kohli have been coming in from all corners. Ravi Shastri also joined the list. Kohli brought up his 50th international century in the match and that is quite some achievement for the young Indian skipper. Speaking about the same, as per the quotes in Times of India, Ravi Shastri mentioned that Kohli is a fabulous player and the sky is the limit for him.

“Sky is the limit. He (Kohli) is a fabulous player and I am very happy,” Shastri said on the sidelines of a promotional event after the first Test against between India and Sri Lanka.

Ganguly joins in

Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly also spoke on similar lines and conceded that Virat is a very good captain. He feels that the Indian captain has a long way to go now. “It was a majestic innings by him (Kohli). He is very good as a captain. He has a long way to go,” Ganguly quoted.
