The coronavirus vaccines have started to get distributed in the country. Indian team head coach Ravi Shastri became the first member of the Indian team to get the vaccine for COVID-19. The third phase of the COVID-19 vaccination drive started to provide the people aged above 60 years along with some people of the age over 45.
Shastri is currently in Ahmedabad as India is playing England in a four-match Test series. The two teams have played the third Test in the city and will also be playing the fourth Test in the city. Shastri is 58 years old and got vaccinated on Tuesday and announced it on Twitter with a picture of himself.
Shastri also thanked all the medical professionals and scientists who have been providing their service to the nation during the tough times of the pandemic. He also praised Kantaben and her team of the Apollo hospital in Ahmedabad, which worked with him for giving the vaccine.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had gone to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi and received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on March 1. The PM had appealed to the Indian people that all those who are eligible must get inoculated.
Several prominent leaders including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar Nationalist Congress Party Chief, Sharad Pawar were administered the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine on Monday.
India is currently leading in the Test series against England 2-1 after winning the third Test, which was a day-night match in Ahmedabad. The fourth Test will be starting on March 4, 2021, and will be played with a red ball. The teams will stay back in Ahmedabad as they will contest in another five-match T20I series before moving to Pune for the three-match ODI series.
