Ace Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is having a very busy time in his cricket career at the moment. Ashwin is currently leading the Kings XI Punjab in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. The Mohali franchise, who had three dismal seasons prior to the ongoing one, has found a new resurgence this season under the leadership of R Ashwin.

After the conclusion of the IPL, the Indian team is all set to host Afghanistan in a historic Test match. The match will be played in the second week of June and it will be the first ever Test match for the visiting Afghanistani side. While someone like Virat Kohli has already decided to skip the game to play County cricket, Ravichandran Ashwin has decided to play the historic Test instead.

With Ashwin being named in the Indian squad for the Afghanistan Test, many believed that the offie will not be playing in the County Championships this year. However, as per the recent reports in ESPNcricinfo, Ravichandran Ashwin is in the frame to make a return for the Worcestershire team in the 2018 season.

Featuring in two games

The reports suggest that Ashwin will join the Worcs as the overseas player replacement for Travis Head. Ashwin had played for the club in the 2017 season and was in top form. He had excelled with both bat and the ball. He had bagged 20 wickets and also contributed with crucial runs at an average of 42.50. In the season, the Worcs won all the four games to ensure both the Division Two title and promotion.

This season, they are struggling having lost their first match. If Ashwin’s heroics can save them, they will not be relegated. Reportedly, Ravichandran Ashwin is likely to play two matches this season for the Worcs – an away game against Essex and a home game against Yorkshire. His participation, however, will depend on the clearances by the BCCI.
