Indian Team have just come off a very long and successful home season in which they played 13 Tests, 8 ODIs and 3 T20Is. Though the home season would be marked as a grand success, but so much of cricket has taken its toll on the players. Firstly Virat Kohli is out of action for few weeks, then earlier today KL Rahul, Murali Vijay, and Ravi Ashwin were ruled out of IPL. Now reports have emerged that Ravindra Jadeja and Umesh Yadav would miss first 3 weeks of the IPL 10.

Both Jadeja and Yadav have given stellar performances in the home season. Jadeja bowled over 9000 deliveries in 9 months long season. So obviously, this amount of workload has taken a toll on his body and he would need a rest to recharge his batteries and with Champions Trophy starting at end of IPL season. Jadeja who is an integral part of the team having performed with both bat and ball for India over last 9 months can’t be risked considering the fact there is such an important tournament round the corner.

Any team would miss a player like Jadeja but his team Gujrat Lions has many All-rounders so they might be able to cope with his loss. On the other hand, KKR who have built their side on the back of spinners would surely miss a pace spearhead in the form of Umesh Yadav.

Yadav has turned a new leaf this season, finally, taking over the mantle of being India’s pace spearhead playing 12 out of 13 tests that were played in the season. He was arguably India’s trump card in the recent Test series vs Australians, his pace and accuracy in the 4 Tests was as good as an Indian pacer has bowled in the last decade or two. He took 17 wickets in the series, his personal best in terms of the number of wickets in a series.

It is a shame that KKR fans would miss out on the chance to see him in action for the first 3 weeks but interests of national team comes first and that is how it should be
