The 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League is still a few months but the euphoria has accentuated all the heights with the all-important auction set to take place in Kolkata on December 19th. As many as 338 cricketers including the likes of Pat Cummins, Eoin Morgan, Glenn Maxwell, Tom Banton, and others will go under the hammer for the 73 available slots.

Out of the 73 available spots, only 29 can be filled by overseas cricketers and all the franchises will be looking to plug the holes as per the requirements of their squad with the best overseas talents from around the world. Not only the overseas cricketers, but the auction list also boasts of talented uncapped Indian players like Rohan Kadam, Priyam Garg, Yashasvi Jaiswal.

According to a report published in ESPNCricinfo, the 13th edition of the most followed league in the cricketing world is set to begin in late March next year, with the Board of Control for Cricket in India [BCCI] earmarking the period between March 28 and May 24, 2020.

The IPL.Governing council informed the eight franchises on Wednesday that the final dates of the upcoming season will be locked soon. The Governing Council is also working on reducing the number of day games as far as possible. It is also working on the start date of the tournament, where the availability of the overseas players is being kept in mind.

IPL 2020 edition will include a lot of new innovations

The 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League is set to be a marquee affair. The next season of IPL will introduce the concept of a specially-appointed umpire adjudging the front-foot no-ball. Apart from this, the next season will also allow the franchises to loan capped players- Indian or oversees- at the midway stage.

In the past seasons, we have seen a lot of players warm the bench because of the fact that their franchise has enough options in their playing 11, and they are no longer required. But what might be surplus to some could be the requirement of the other.

And, now the teams will have the chance to loan such players with other franchises, given the fact that the player in question should not have played more than two games at the halfway mark.
