India are slated to take on the West Indies in a limited-overs series in the month of February. This series will comprise of 3 ODIs and as many T20Is.

The BCCI has already announced that it is planning to reduce the number of venues used for the limited-overs series to just 2, Ahmedabad and Kolkata.

Now, the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auctions are scheduled to take place on 12th and 13th February 2022 in Bangalore, and the 3rd ODI between India and West Indies is scheduled to take place on 12th February 2022. And, the BCCI is planning to reschedule the ODI series a little, so that there is no clash with the mega auctions.

BCCI has limited venues for India-West Indies series because of rising Covid-19 cases

The BCCI has reportedly reduced the number of venues to just two because of the rising Covid-19 cases in the country. The BCCI Tours Committee strongly feels that reducing the travel of the teams is a good decision as India are slated to take on Sri Lanka just 5 days after the series against the West Indies.

India are scheduled to take on Sri Lanka in 2 Tests and 3 T20Is in February-March this year. While the 2 Test matches will take place as planned in Bangalore and Mohali, all the 3 T20I games will be held in Dharamshala. The earlier plan was to have the T20I series spread across 3 venues, with Mohali and Lucknow acting as the hosts for the other 2 games. But now, the venue has been limited to just Dharamshala.

The Indian cricket team is currently in South Africa, where they are fighting it out against the Proteas in a three-match ODI series. India are trailing 0-1 in the series, after losing the 1st ODI against the Proteas by 31 runs. After posting a total of 296/4 on the board, South Africa restricted India to 265/8. The 2nd and 3rd ODI matches of the series will be played on 21st and 23rd January 2022 respectively. While Paarl will host the 2nd ODI, the 3rd rubber will be held at Cape Town.
