Reports: Team India off to London for Lord’s Test, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly to attend the game

Team India has flown to London for the second Test match against England at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Stadium. The encounter gets underway on Thursday (August 12) and both teams would be raring to make a mark. Notably, the first of the five matches resulted in a draw, all thanks to cricket’s age-old enemy in England, rain. England might be happier of the two sides with the result as India were cruising in the Trent Bridge Test.

They needed just 157 runs on the last day with as many as nine wickets in hand. Moreover, the track seemed good for batting. However, the heaven gates remained opened on the final day as not a single ball was bowled. Nevertheless, four more matches are left in the series and fans can expect some exciting action in Test cricket.

Prithvi Shaw, Suryakumar Yadav to join the team on August 13

Meanwhile, Times Now has learn’t that the entire Indian contingent left for London at 11:00 AM (local time) on Monday (August 9). Notably, all the members underwent COVID-19 tests before boarding flights and returned negative. Speaking of protocols, Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav, who were roped in as covers, can only join the team after completing their 10-day quarantine period on August 13.

Hence, they won’t be eligible to participate in the second Test. Nevertheless, there’s a nine-day gap between the second and third Test. This means Yadav and Shaw will have ample amount of time to assess the condition and get match ready in case the need arises.

Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly will also be attending the Lord’s Test from the stands. He is set to leave for London on Tuesday. Notably, Ganguly became eligible to watch the Lord’s Test only after United Kingdom authorities moved Indian travelers from red to amber list last Sunday (August 8).

A person under the amber list doesn’t need to serve the mandatory 10-day hard quarantine period if he’s fully vaccinated. It is also expected that board secretary Jay Shah, vice-president Rajiv Shukla, treasurer Arun Dhumal might be in the UK to keep a tab on Team India’s performance.
