Rishabh Pant has been the toast of the nation ever since his brilliant and maiden half-century for the Indian team in the first ODI against the West Indies in Chennai. Though India lost the match by 8 wickets, it was amazing to see the young keeper-batsman keeping his cool under pressure and stitching a lengthy partnership with Shreyas Iyer to help the team out.
The Haridwar-born cricketer has been under severe pressure ever since he was earmarked to take over from MS Dhoni in the limited-overs scene. He failed to come good with both the gloves and the bat as the fans clamored to have Dhoni back whenever Pant couldn’t manage to get a big score in dire needs. On top of that came the manner in which he used to get out, going for a big shot the first ball he faced. However, this innings not only brought him accolades from fans, but also from someone special as well.
Rishabh Pant’s girlfriend calls him ‘The King’
Rishabh Pant had stitched a 114-run partnership with Shreyas Iyer for the fourth wicket. His 71, his highest score in ODIs and 70 from Iyer took the Indian team to a fighting total of 287/8. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough as West Indies lost just two wickets in the process of overhauling the total. Pant’s biggest achievement was to get the Chennai crowd to chant his name as he walked off from the pitch, given that the Chepauk ground is the home of MS Dhoni, who leads the CSK franchise.
Meanwhile, Pant’s girlfriend, Isha Negi, who is a social media influencer took to Instagram with a screenshot of India’s final score – a graphic of BCCI’s official social media page and showed her love for Pant calling him ‘The King’.
The couple has kept their love life pretty low profile for the time being and Negi is not seen cheering for her beau at cricket grounds, but this shows the strength of their relationship. But Rishabh will be concentrating on the next match in Vizag, which India needs to win in order to equalize the series, a big task given the form of Shimron Hetmyer and Shai Hope, who both had scored centuries in their team’s biggest ODI chase against India in India.
