The 2019 edition of the Cricket World Cup has turned out to be scarier than a nightmare for Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed. Almost everything has gone wrong for him and he’s must be helplessly searching for the light at the end of the tunnel. The Pakistan supporters have left no stone unturned in slamming Sarfaraz and very unfortunately, he has also become a meme material on social media.

The fans have spit venom of the captain, not thinking about the negative implications it can have on Sarfaraz. The outrage grew after Pakistan lost to arch-rivals India on June 16 at the Old Trafford in Manchester by 89 runs (DLS Method). According to most of the fans, there’s much more at the stake than a mere win or a loss, and the drubbing didn’t go down well with the supporters.

After the game, a disappointed fan bashed the Pakistan team for not putting enough focus on fitness. A few of the players also came under fire after they were spotted at the Shisha mall at the Winslow Road. Pakistan next face South Africa on June 23 at the Lord’s in London and the Men in Green can’t afford another goof-up as that could pull the curtains down on their chances of playing the semis.

Deshmukh lashes out

As far as Sarfaraz is concerned, he isn’t having a great time. Yesterday, when he was out for shopping with his son, a fan requested Sarfaraz for a selfie before calling him ‘fat like a pig’. The 32-year-old Sarfaraz was seen ignoring the person and walking off. Thereafter, he got support from the world. Parking aside any kind of rivalry, even the Indians supported the scarred Pakistan skipper.

Recently, the popular Bollywood actor in Riteish Deshmukh also came out in Sarfaraz’s support. He called the fans’ actions as a case of harassment. He emphasized the fact that everyone has their right of losing an important match.

He took to Twitter and wrote, “Every captain in history has lost an important match. #SarfarazAhmed doesn’t deserve this. This is harassment… for heaven’s sake he is with his child,”
