The Mumbai Indians (MI) entered the 2018 Indian Premier League (IPL) the defending champions. Expectations were high of them as they won the titles as many as three times, the most by any franchise in the history of the tournament. Prior to the event, they were jolted with a massive blow as Pat Cummins, the Australian paceman, was ruled out owing to a back injury.
Mitchell McClenaghan, who remained unsold in the auction, was drafted in by the franchise as Cummins’ replacement. He played a few seasons for the same team after which he was released by Rohit’s men. It was a tad bit surprising bearing in mind, Mitch’s exploits for Mumbai. Nevertheless, they made amends and the Black Cap didn’t let his team down by any means.
McClenaghan’s decent enough campaign in the IPL
The fast-bowler old notched 14 wickets from 11 matches at an economy rate, which is acceptable for kind of pitches he bowled on, especially the Wankhede where runs aren’t hard to come by. Mumbai couldn’t qualify for playoffs and most importantly, were unable to defend their title. Their last match versus the Rajasthan Royals (RR) was a must win one and they somehow couldn’t survive the heat.
Yesterday, McClenaghan celebrated his 32nd birthday and Rohit shared a hilarious message for the left-arm seam bowler. He wrote.
“Hey Mitch best wishes on your birthday mate, you are a top guy. Will send you some Mumbai street food recipes to enjoy on your birthday. Have a savage one @Mitch_Savage”

The Kiwi was quick to spot the message from the MI skipper and replied him back cleverly. He wrote
“Cheers brother! There’s a street food place in botany l have to go there”
