India’s limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma is in England for the team’s five-match Test series against the hosts. Apart from enjoying a well-deserved break, Sharma also got time to sell his property which was based out of Lonavala for INR 5.25 crores. The humongous house was worth 6259 square feet and was registered by the 34-year-old on June 1. Apparently, May 29, 2021, was the day when the deal was officially finalised, to which the right-hand batter paid stamp duty of 26 lakh too.

The buyer’s name is Sushma Ashok Saraf. Various cricketers within the Indian team either buy houses for investment purposes or for a holiday gateway when they travel with their families or loved ones. Sharma too was among those who brought a house in Lonavala, which is a hill station located near Pune, Maharashtra.

But, due to reasons unknown, Sharma had to sell the property, according to a report in Moneycontrol.com. Apart from the name of the buyer, there are not many details available of Saraf, who brought the huge mansion.

Rohit Sharma a key member of the Indian team during the England Tests

Apart from spending some quality time with his wife and kid, the 34-year-old now has to look at the next challenge, which is facing England in the high-octane five-match Test series starting on August 04. The right-hand batter is one of the senior players in the squad and has to take ownership of scoring runs at the top, something India have failed to do on a consistent basis.

Considering, this series will be part of the World Test Championship (WTC) cycle, India and Sharma will look to set the tone early in the tournament. England, without a doubt, are one of the toughest sides when it comes to Tests at home, with conditions that predominantly favour seam and swing. Their bowlers- James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Chris Woakes, Ben Stokes, and Jofra Archer will relentlessly keep asking questions.

Sharma who has a Bradmansque average at home has failed to translate that run-scoring spree in overseas conditions. This will surely be Sharma’s acid test and this series will determine if he has in it him to score runs abroad.
