Candice Warner still has plenty of athletic prowess in she proved with her performance in her first ever marathon. Once a top ironwoman of the country, Candice gave that profession up after marriage and maternity. She shot to fame after the Nutri-Gain ironwoman series.

Wanting a new sporting challenge, Mrs Warner decided to train for the Gold Coast marathon. Though she was disappointed with her finish time of 3hrs 46min 36sec for the 42.2km course, she told Swoop, “I loved it. And yes I want to do another.”

A sports lover and a rugby league fan, now she is a frequent spectator in cricket matches, cheering for her husband David Warner and the Aussies. This time, the roles were reversed as it was husband David on the sidelines on Sunday watching his super-fit 32-year-old wife, as she raced the Gold Coast marathon.

“The roles have been reversed — instead he and the kids will be at the finish line cheering me on,” Candice said before the race.

She has won numerous Australian and international titles in the surf as a lifesaver before she retired to start her new life as a wife and mum to Ivy Mae, two, and one-year-old Indi Rae.

On Sunday, she raced in the 30-24 age category to be the 1313th person over the line in the Gold Coast marathon. She was 229th female with a time of 3hrs 46min 36sec for the 42.2km course.

The proud husband could not contain the excitement as he kept everyone updated on social media.
‘What a great achievement in your first marathon. We are really proud. We love you,’ the star continued, alongside the hash-tag #family.

The image shared with 30-year-old David’s followers, saw Candice revealing her svelte frame in black athletic wear and a neon pink visor, beaming at her precious toddler. The caption read- “The moment mummy came across the line. All morning (where’s mummy) and here she is. A massive hug for mummy. Well done my love. @candywarner1 #proudhusband”
