Rajasthan Royals have been one of the most impressive sides of the on-going edition of Indian Premier League (IPL). The Steve Smith-led side, so far, has steamrolled Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab to clinch two victories in their opening two encounters.

In their third IPL 2020 game against Kolkata Knight Riders at Dubai, Royals decided to field first. Their bowling force, led by Jofra Archer’s lethal pace, delivered an impressive performance to curb KKR to a 175-run total. While Archer scalped two wickets; Ankit Rajput, Jaydev Unadkat and Tom Curran added a wicket each to their name.

The man-of-the-moment– Rahul Tewatia– also added his name in the wicket-takers list by dismissing Nitish Rana. Eyeing to clinch their third victory of the tournament, Royals have lost five early wickets including the in-form Sanju Samson and skipper Smith. Despite suffering early blows, RR are hopeful of Tewatia pulling off something incredible yet again.

You sit on a throne of lies: ICC troll RR over their tweet

Ahead of the start of their encounter against KKR, Rajasthan had hogged the limelight on Twitter by posting a hilarious tweet. “3000 RTs to make Tewatia & Jofra open the batting tonight,” the Royals had tweeted.

Tewatia and Archer were incredible with the bat against Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings respectively. While Tewatia stole the show with 31-ball 53 including five sixes against Sheldon Cottrell, Archer slammed 27 off 8 including four maximums against CSK. On the back of their impressive form with the willow, RR let fans to decide whether they should open the innings against KKR.

Despite getting a staggering 9.9k retweets on their tweet, RR flagged off their batting with their expected Buttler-Smith pair. The International Cricket Council (ICC), in response to RR’s unfulfilled promise, took a sly dig at the franchise by sharing a gif which read– “You sit on a throne of lies.”

Royals are currently sitting on the top of the points table with four points under their belt. If they manage to defeat KKR, they’ll end up with six points and will be poised head and shoulders above the other seven franchises.
