The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced Rumeli Dhar as the replacement for the injured Jhulan Goswami. The veteran got injured during the three-match ODI series against South Africa women which India won by 2-1. However, Dhar is all set to travel South Africa for the remaining three T20 Internationals of the five-match series.

Rumeli Dhar last played for India way back in 2012 and has been recalled to the national side after a huge gap of six years. She is the medium pace all-rounder and looks like a perfect replacement for the experienced player like Jhulan. The 34-year-old has featured in 15 T20Is before and has scalped 10 wickets conceding runs at an economy of only 5.67. Her experience will surely help the impressive Indian side on the tour.

The official website of BCCI confirmed the news of Jhulan Goswami being replaced by Rumeli Dhar. “he All-India Women’s Selection Committee has named Rumeli Dhar as the replacement for injured Jhulan Goswami. Ms. Dhar will join the Indian Women’s Team for the remaining three T20Is against South Africa Women,” the press release statement read.

Jhulan had sustained an injury to her heel and didn’t play in the final ODI as well and was subsequently ruled out of the T20I rubber.

India lead T20I series 2-0

Despite missing one of their most experienced players, the visitors have played some impressive cricket so far on the tour. After stunning the home side in the ODI series, they now also lead the T20 International series by 2-0. In the first match, they gunned down the total of over 160 while in the second they restricted South Africa Women to around 140 and then chased it down with utter ease.

The youngsters like Smriti Mandhana, Pooja Vastrakar, Jemimah Rodrigues have stepped up big time and won the matches for their country. The ever experienced Mithali Raj has been in supreme touch and has been awarded the Player of the Match award in both the matches. The third T20I will be played on Sunday in Johannesburg and will be televised as well along with the Men’s game which will start later in the day.
