Rumman Raees appointed as vice-captain of Islamabad United, Saeed Ajmal as spin bowling coach

Pakistan limited-over format specialist, Rumman Raees, is all set to play the role of deputy to captain Misbah-ul-Haq in the Islamabad United camp for the third edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Further, Saeed Ajmal has been appointed as the spin-bowling coach of the team.

Raees has been one of the finds for Pakistan through their premier domestic T20 tournament and hogged all the limelight with his signature celebration after taking a wicket. Raees has grown leaps and bounds in International cricket since making his debut back in September 2016 against West Indies.

“We’ve always aimed for this franchise to be similar to a family, and these two appointments are a continuation of that belief. Rumman has come on leaps and bounds from when we picked him up in the first PSL Draft and the way he has represented the franchise over the past two years made him the ideal candidate for this role,” claimed the owner of the franchise Ali Naqvi according to Geo News.

“We think this is the perfect time for him to be given this responsibility as it allows him to be groomed under the tutelage of a great mentor like Misbah for this season,” further added Naqvi. The owner of Islamabad then went on to state that the appointment of Saeed Ajmal is only going to benefit the youngsters in the squad.

“The same is true of Saeed. He’s been part of the family for two years and we have nothing but praise for how he has represented us. He’s a great person and a great player, and I am sure the young guys will learn a lot from him,” concluded Ali Naqvi.

“We are proud to announce these changes. We believe that Rumman is a future leader in our franchise, and more importantly a future leader for Pakistan,” revealed the Head Coach of Islamabad United, Dean Jones.
