The ban imposed on S. Sreesanth by the BCCI was upheld by the Kerala High Court last month, and the verdict has left a cricket club in Scotland in dilemma. According to the courier.co.uk, the officials at the Glenrothes Cricket Club in Fife — a county in Scotland will now have to wait for the results of the legal course after cricketer Sreesanth’s bid to make a comeback faced a massive hurdle lately.

The paceman was banned by the BCCI following the IPL spot-fixing and betting incident in the year 2013. A dejected Sreesanth had expressed his wish to represent other cricket playing country as his latest attempt to make a comeback in Indian cricket suffered a roadblock.

Sreesanth wants a move

It is believed that Sreesanth has conveyed his wish to make a move to Fife and play for  Glenrothes Cricket Club. The chairman of the cricket club Eddie Gibbs has backed Sreesanth’s wish but now finds himself in hot waters.

“Following the quashing of the criminal case some two years previously, it was clear that the BCCI intended to appeal and get the ban restored. This is now what’s happened and Sreesanth has been invited to take his case to the Indian Supreme Court,” Gibbs said.

“Even though the player is not banned by the ICC and never has been, an unjust domestic ban in India is preventing him resuming his career overseas, so as things stand with the legal process rumbling on, there is little chance Sreesanth will be pitching up at Gilvenbank for Glenrothes anytime soon,” he added.

The club has clearly said that it will wait for the verdict to arrive, after which a call will be made. “The player has publicly promised that he will play for Glenrothes at the first opportunity he can, but whilst the BCCI are allowed to pull the strings we have to let the judicial system run its course and we have been left in limbo,” expressed Gibbs.
