The Indian cricket team has been receiving quite a lot of backlash owing to the series loss in South Africa. While the bowling attack has managed to do its bit, the batting performance has been a huge let down for India. Even the inconsistent selection policies have been debated back and forth.

Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has come in support of Kohli’s men. The Indian spinner has urged everyone to continue backing the team. He further refused to compare the former Indian captain MS Dhoni and the current skipper Virat Kohli’s captaincy styles.

Let’s support the team at this hour, we’ll bounce back strongly

India closely lost both games in spite of being in a winning position at some point. While Bhajji admitted that India didn’t play according to expectations, he urged fans to keep backing the team. He believed that India will bounce back strongly. “Everybody wants to improve. Let’s support the team at this hour. We have not played as well as we would have expected. Maybe next time. This is a great learning curve. Hopefully, we will bounce back strongly. They need to back each other,” Harbhajan was quoted as saying by News 18.

I don’t want to compare Dhoni and Kohli, they played in different eras

MS Dhoni had led India on the South African tour twice. While India managed to draw the test series 1-1 in 2010, they lost 1-0 in the previous tour during 2013. When asked to compare Kohli with Dhoni, Harbhajan refused to cite that both played at a different time.

“I don’t want to compare. They played in different eras. Every time we toured we had the best chance of winning. I don’t want to compare teams of different eras. Kohli with Dhoni or the former players like Rahul Dravid, VVS and Sachin. Captaincy comes with a lot of responsibility. He has done really well so far. This was his first real overseas challenge. I don’t call Sri Lanka a real overseas challenge with similar conditions.”

The Indian skipper was recently awarded the ICC Cricketer of the Year as well as the ODI player of the year. Harbhajan Singh expressed his happiness over the same and stated that Kohli had set high standards.
