The final day of the Boxing Day Test between South Africa and India at the Supersport Park in Centurion is currently in progress. The visitors are closing in on a famous victory but the Proteas batter Temba Bavuma is standing strong in the middle. He started his innings at the start of play and has looked very strong in his approach since then understandably frustrating the Indian bowlers.

However, they have managed pick wickets from the other end thereby getting closer to their first ever win in Centurion. South Africa have their hopes pinned on Bavuma and for the fighter, he will certainly look to dig deep with rain in the forecast in the post-lunch session.

Meanwhile, an unnecessary incident took place in the middle during the 62nd over of the innings. Bavuma defended a good length delivery back to bowler Mohammed Siraj who fired a throw back at the stumps thinking that the batter was outside the crease. But Bavuma was well inside and rather the ball ended up hitting the batter’s left heel, just next to the ankle.

Siraj was quick to apologise and also walked up to the batter putting an arm around his shoulder to look if he is fine. But Bavuma was in excruciating pain and the physio had to run in to attend him. Play was halted for some time which was crucial given the fact that most likely rain will come down at 3 PM local time according to the weather forecast.

Here’s the video:

India only three wickets away from win at lunch

Meanwhile, South Africa resumed at 94/4 on Day five and the duo of Dean Elgar and Bavuma were quick to add some runs making India nervous. They played some good shots punishing poor deliveries even as the Proteas skipper was dropped by Mohammed Shami off his own bowling. Things had started to look tricky for India but soon the bowlers were back to their best.

Jasprit Bumrah struck to remove Elgar and then Siraj and Shami also got into the groove to send back Quinton de Kock and Wiaan Mulder. Bavuma’s wicket is the key at the moment as South Africa were 182/7 at lunch, still 123 runs away from victory.
