After an action-packed Test series, the focus shifts towards the three-match ODI series as Team India will be locking horns with South Africa in the first game at Boland Park in Paarl on Wednesday. Both teams would be looking forward to starting the series with a win. India have got a very good bowling line-up as far as pace battery is concerned.

While Jasprit Bumrah would be spearheading the attack,  he could possibly share the new ball with Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Even Test specialist Mohammed Siraj is also a part of the pace battery. Meanwhile, former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt has picked two fast bowlers who must be a part of the playing XI. Salman Butt explained why Bumrah & Siraj would be key factors for India

“India need to have both Siraj and Bumrah in the ODI team. They have the pace and their attitude is also different. All the others are medium-fast pacers. In the T20 World Cup, they failed to make early inroads due to a lack of pace apart from the toss factor. According to me, Siraj and Bumrah will be India’s two wicket-takers, who can create pressure”, said Salman Butt during a discussion on his official YouTube channel.

India’s pace setup is expected to stand tall in the ODI series against SA

Mohammed Siraj had suffered a hamstring injury during the second Test match at Johannesburg as a result of which he had to miss the following game at Cape Town. However, during a virtual press conference on Monday, Jasprit Bumrah had told the reporters that Siraj is not only fine but also practicing with them and he does not have any discomfort either. Therefore, it remains to be seen if the Hyderabad speedster finds a place in playing XI for Wednesday’s match.

Apart from Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, the Men In Blues’s pace battery also includes some raw and a bit experience players like Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Navdeep Saini, and, Prasidh Krishna. It remains to be seen who will click for India in the crucial series following ahead.
