Before the start of the ODI series, fans expected close encounters as it was a battle between the World No.1 and World No.2. But the Men in Blue have displayed two scintillating performances to take a 2-0 lead in the series. The Proteas have failed to pick the wrist spinners and have given away wickets cheaply. They haven’t found a way to stop King Kohli and the injury to Quinton de Kock adds further misery to the side.

Quirky remark

Virender Sehwag, who is known for his quirky (and controversial) personality on Twitter, found himself in a comic incident on the social media platform yet again. In the second game, the Proteas were bundled for just 119 runs in 32 overs which meant that instead of a normal lunch break, play started after a five-minute short break. The on-field umpires extended the game by 15 minutes as they felt that a result was just around the corner. Surprisingly, the umpires decided to take lunch when the Indian’s were just two runs short of a massive win.

If rain had taken centre-stage at that time and if no play was possible, the match would have been called off with Indians just to runs shy. For D/L method to be applicable, a minimum of 20 overs has to be played by the team. The umpires were subject to light criticism across social media after the hilarious decision.

Sehwag took to Twitter to add a funny dimension to this incident. He tweeted: “Umpires treating Indian batsmen like PSU Bank treat customers. Lunch ke baad aana.”

However, few PSU employees did not take this tweet lightly.

Sehwag replied to the tweets in the following manner:

India is set to take on South Africa in the third ODI on Wednesday. The problems in the Proteas camp have been mounting as they will be without the services of their star players while the Indian camp must be pretty happy with their performances. The only concern for them may be that of the fifth bowler leaking runs.
