Sachin: A billion dreams continues to rule the box office

On the first day of the movie, the biopic had aggregated a total collection of INR 8.4 crore.

The highly-anticipated biopic of legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has continued to break the records in the first weekend of its release. The movie, titled ‘Sachin: A billion dreams’ has been received very well by the audiences and has been a massive hit at the box office. By the end of the first three days of the release, the movie has almost garnered INR 30 crore.

On the first day of the movie, the biopic had aggregated a total collection of INR 8.4 crore. This was one among the top 10 box office openings in the calendar year 2017. The year, that has seen heavy releases like Shah Rukh Khan starrer Raees and Akshay Kumar starrer Jolly LLB 2, the biopic of Sachin Tendulkar has found a place of its own in the league.

It was the sixth best opening for a movie in this calendar year. Earlier, it was speculated that the movie might not do very well at the box office since it is a documentary. Also, the fact that the movie had no Bollywood stars, or flashy numbers, only strengthened these claims. But the way the movie has been accepted by the cricket fans and the other fans alike has been quite impressive.

On Saturday, the second day of the movie, the biopic grossed INR 10.25 crore. This meant that the movie had a gross earning of INR 17 crore in the first two days. On the third day of the release, on Sunday, the movie did better than the previous two days. They earned INR 10.25 crore on Sunday. Hence, Sachin: A billion dreams has aggregated a total of INR 27.85 crore by the end of its first weekend.

Critical Review

Commenting on the critical review of the movie, the movie does take the fans through a journey of the little master. However, some critics believed that the movie lacked the insights that it had promised to showcase. Also, the detailing of some of the aspects could have been done in the movie.
