Cricket fans have their eyes on the calendar as the inaugural edition of Legends League Cricket gets underway on January 20. The gala tournament will take place in Oman and will see many former cricketers again in action. Meanwhile, there were reports of Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar participating in the tournament as his name was mentioned in the promo of the competition, which features brand ambassador Amitabh Bacchan.
However, Tendulkar’s company, SRT Sports Management Private Limited, on Saturday (January 8) rubbished all the rumours and confirmed that the batting great is not a part of the competition. The firm also urged the organizers to not give false information to the fans and also to the veteran actor.

“The news about @sachin_rt ’s participation in ‘Legends League Cricket’ is not true. The organisers should refrain from misleading cricket fans and Mr. Amitabh Bachchan. – Official spokesperson, SRT Sports Management Pvt. Ltd,” wrote the firm in a tweet while reacting to Bacchan’s promotional post.

The comment section got flooded in no time as fans weren’t amused with the fiasco. The Sholay actor also came under the scanner for providing false information. Meanwhile, the Legends League Cricket will see several former cricketers from India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Australia, England, and other cricketing nations in action. All these players would be divided into three teams representing India, Asia, and the rest of the World. Notably, all matches will take place at the Al Amerat Cricket Stadium in Oman.
Meanwhile, the Indian side will be called India Maharajas in the competition. The team is studded with big guns like Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh, who were nothing short of nightmare for oppositions during their playing days. Owing to the same, many fans and experts have been seeing India Maharajas as favourites for the competition.
