Sachin Tendulkar was deemed as one the most legendary cricketers to have oiled their trade on the cricket pitch. Such was his dominance in world cricket that he drew comparisons with Sir Donald Bradman and Sir Vivian Richards. The Master Blaster bowed out in 2013 after playing his last Test against West Indies on his home ground at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Nevertheless, even after his retirement, the former Indian batsman is a holder of several records and will require herculean efforts from cricketers to surpass them. The Mumbaikar emerged as the first man on the planet to score a double century in ODI cricket against South Africa. Most recently a fan’s Twitter handle named Sachinist.com revealed Sachin’s lucky number, something even Sachin wasn’t aware of.

As per the tweet, 24 is the lucky number for the Little Master. On 24th February 1988, he stitched together a stupendous partnership of 664 runs in school cricket, which subsequently entered the record books. Also, he scored the double ton in 147 balls on 24th April 2010. Moreover, he was born on 24 April 1973, which signified the significance of the number in his career. Most crucially, his international carrier spanned 24 years.

Here’s the Tweet

Quite rightly, Sachin was delighted by the humbled gesture and he reverted with a heartfelt Tweet.

Sachin Tendulkar forayed into international cricket as a batsman who preferred to dictate terms to the oppositions. However, he groomed himself into a reliable and matured personality and grew in stature as his career progressed. More importantly, he exhibited consistency which made him an indispensable element of the lineup.

The former Indian donned jersey number 99 for a chunk of his career. However, Tendulkar shifted to jersey 10 thereafter and wore it for the remainder of his career. After his retirement, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to retire jersey number 10, which was a tribute to Sachin for his exemplary career on the 24 yards.
