The little master Sachin Tendulkar affirmed that Delhi Daredevils star Rishabh Pant‘s batting style has traces of Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina in it. The maestro made the statement in a pre-match interview ahead of the all-important IPL finals between Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiant.

It has always been a treat to lend ears to the master whenever he shares his wisdom. Sachin Tendulkar lately has been busy promoting his biopic which is all set release on May 26. The ‘Superman of Indian Cricket’ claimed that the tournament is fantastic opportunity to blend in cultures from around the globe into the city-based setup.

“IPL has players from all over the world participating and our youngsters have an opportunity to rub shoulders with them for good 40-50 days. It’s not just about pre-match preparations; it’s also about post-match recovery. For example, Jacques Kallis spent a lot of time in KKR, so you get to understand the South African culture,” quoted the 44-year old.

Young talents

The mentor of the Mumbai Indians also had a word or two about the young talents who have emerged in the tournament, both from his team and the other ones. For Sachin, Nitish Rana, Mohammad Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj have stood out in the 2-month long league.

“Nitish Rana from our team has done really well. Batted brilliantly in the first half of the tournament. Have been watching Thampi and Siraj. Bumrah has been around for a while and performing consistently well.Tripathi has a beautiful bat swing and a cover drive of his the other day reminded me of Viru!,” added the man who scored hundred 100’s in his international cricket career.

Having said all that, Sachin had some special words for the upcoming star in Indian cricket who has stunned the world with his blitzkrieg with the bat against Gujarat this season. He believes Pant is a perfect amalgamation of Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina.

Tendulkar also was wary of the loss Pant had gone through before the start of the tournament and related to his mindset when he faced a similar situation back in the World Cup of 1999.

“Rishabh Pant is a special talent. To me, he looks like a combination of Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina – the set up and the bat swing. Wonderful to watch. Yes, it’s never easy to have a tragedy in your family and then turn up and focus on the game (on Rishabh’s bereavement on the eve of IPL). I can understand what he must have gone,” said Tendulkar.

“I can understand what he must have gone through, because same happened with me in the 1999 World Cup. It takes time to overcome and is a loss that’s irreparable. Full marks to Rishabh and his family; in these times, you need your family’s support,” concluded the great man.
