Sourav Ganguly took the BCCI charge in his hand back in October. At that time he had expressed his views to improve India’s domestic cricket structure. And, now Sachin Tendulkar has come up with his thoughts ahead of the Annual General Meeting that is scheduled to be held on Sunday. He also urged his former teammates to come up with some new amendments that will help in improving the conditions of domestic cricket.

Just in a month, Ganguly managed to organize the first-ever Day-Night Test that was played at the Eden Gardens. It was all his efforts along with the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) due to which the historic game was properly organized at a short notice. In his first big assignment, Sourav left no stone unturned to make it a memorable game.

Master Blaster gives a suggestion to Sourav Ganguly

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar feels that Sourav should look into the Indian domestic tournament. As per him, the players are more focussed on their individual performance in Duleep Trophy. The domestic cricketers nowadays are playing as per the need of the hour. If there is any big tournament or IPL auction ahead, they will play in beast mode otherwise they will not come up with a hundred percent effort for their side.

“I want him (Ganguly) to consider looking at the Duleep Trophy…I feel Duleep Trophy is one tournament where one is getting to hear that players are possibly more focused on their own performances and what the next tournament is and they play accordingly. For instance, if there’s an IPL auction, or an upcoming T20 tournament or one-day, players end up playing in that mode and not for their team or looking at the need of the hour,” said Sachin as quoted by Sportstar.

The former Indian cricketer also added that cricket is a team sport and players just can’t play focussing on their individual performance. It is all about team spirit and effort where nobody as an individual can prosper. Sachin also suggested an idea to re-innovate Duleep Trophy which aims to play the top four Ranji teams along with two more sides in Duleep Trophy.

“This is one change I would like to see because cricket has always been a team sport. It is all about team spirit bonding and playing together as a team. Not as individuals. Top four Ranji teams and there should be two more teams because there would be a number of teams with talented individuals but which did not qualify. You pick these players from various teams, also promote talented age-group players from Under-19 and Under-23,” he added.
