Sachin’s Blasters v Warne’s Warriors 2nd T20 Highlights: Houston catches the cricketing fever: The cricketing carnival moved to Houston for the second T20 of the All Stars Series. Shane Warne’s Warriors put up a great show, as the openers cracked the whip from the start.
Michael Vaughan and Matthew Hayden started the proceedings for Warriors while Shoaib Akhtar was up with the new ball. The crowd went bonkers, as both the opener’s provided a flying start.
Michael Vaughan flicked one over midwicket off Mcgrath, as the Ashes memories were back. He then picked up a slowish delivery from Shoaib Akhtar and sent it to the ropes. The highlight of Michael Vaughan’s innings will be the moment he slapped Shoaib Akhtar’s delivery out of the park for a six.
The former Australian opener was at his brutal best, as he smacked the ball out of the park on many occasions. He sent the leather out off the ropes from Mcgrath, while he smacked one straight past the bowler’s head.
Matthew Hayden then dispatched Swann to the ropes, as he kept up the run rate. His double six off Glenn Mcgrath was electrifying, as he guided the ball over Mcgrath’s head, as it went past the boundary.
The Warriors were 63-2, after both the openers were back to the hut. Kumar Sangakkara turned the table on his side, as he lifted the Warriors to 262-5. The Lankan southpaw smashed 6 boundaries and 6 sixes, on his way to 70 off 30 balls.
Ricky Ponting chipped in with a cameo of 41 from 16 balls, while Jacques Kallis stroked his way to 45 from 23 balls. Warriors posted a mammoth total of 262-5 in their allotted 50 overs.
In reply, Sachin’s Blasters got off to a poor start, as Virender Sehwag went back to the pavilion for 16, courtesy a ripper from Ajit Agarkar. Sourav Ganguly, playing his first game; couldn’t help the matters either, as he went back for 12 runs.
The skipper tried to guide the team after early collapse, but he failed, as Saqlain Mushtaq got the little master for 33.
Brian Lara and Mahela Jayawardene couldn’t grip the occasion, as both the batsmen were back to the pavilion, with the scoreboard ticking 102-5.
Shaun Pollock turned out to be the stand-out performer for the Blasters, as he smacked 7 sixes and a boundary, on his way to 55.
He batted with a strike rate of 250, while Graeme Swann and Lance Klusener chipped in with fruitful contributions.
Andrew Symonds scalped 4 wickets, even though he was a tad too expensive; giving away 70 runs from his 4 overs.
The Blasters could reach only 205, as the Warriors won the match by 57 runs and took an unbeatable lead of 2-0 in the 3 match series.
