'Saeed Ajmal 2.0' - Fans in split as Pakistan fielders drop yet another sitter during 3rd WI T20I

Despite having several world-class cricketers in their ranks, fielding remains a concern for Pakistan. Over the years, various fielders of the green army have dropped absolute sitters, which have gone on to become memes on social media. During the third T20I between Pakistan and West Indies, Mohammad Hasnain and Iftikhar Ahmed teamed up to drop a simple catch.

After the Pooran-led side scored 207 in the first innings, the hosts went on to chase this massive total rather comfortably. The Pakistan openers came out all guns blazing and scored 158 in 15 overs. Yet, the highlight of the match was a comical drop during the first innings of the final T20I, which was hilarious, to say the least.

This moment instantly created a meme fest among the fans, as they went on to compare it to the iconic drop catch of Saeed Ajmal and Shoaib Malik. Coincidently, even that occurred during a game between these two sides itself. Speaking about the recent meme-worthy drop, it happened during the eighth over of the first innings during the third T20I.

Hasnain and Ahmed get brutally trolled for dropping an absolute dolly of a catch 

Mohammad Nawaz was the bowler and he was trying to dismiss Shamarh Brooks, who was looking good. While Hasnain and Iftikhar were the two fielders who were converging to complete the dismissal of the Windies batter, the two fielders ended up making an absolute mess of the wonderful opportunity as the duo failed to send the opener back to the pavilion. This moment was similar to the Ajmal-Malik one in 2008.

The pacer and the batter were near the boundary rope, and both weren’t sure as to who’s catch it was. While Hasnain got closer to the ball, he looked at his teammate, with an unclear look on his face. Both were then seen blaming each other after dropping the sitter.

Thus, it didn’t take too long for this to become viral across all the social media platforms. Although the Azam-led side went on to win the game, and win the series 3-0, this was one of the major talking points. Thus, the two fielders went on to get trolled by the fans and followers of the game.
