The magician off-spinner of Pakistan Saeed Ajmal has offered a helping hand towards Mohammad Hafeez to remodel his bowling action. He was banned from bowling by International Cricket Council (ICC) earlier this week after he was reported for suspect action during the series against Sri Lanka. Though the all-rounder has pledged to come back strongly with the ball after he was prohibited from rolling his arm around.

Ajmal was also banned from bowling in International cricket way back in 2014 when he was at the peak of his career. His action was deemed illegal by ICC twice which haunted his career badly. He returned with the new action but wasn’t successful at all as he was before. Unfortunately, he had to announce his retirement from all forms of cricket last week after which he expressed his disappointment for being singled out by the world cricketing body.

PCB needs to take steps

Mohammad Hafeez has been disallowed to bowl at the highest level for the third time in his career as Ajmal feels he could help the cricketer to clear his action. He has offered Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Hafeez that he will work with him to remodel his action within a month. Though he also opined that the board should take enough steps to stop Pakistani bowlers being singled out by the ICC.

“If the PCB takes some positive steps [to protect the bowlers], I am hopeful that Pakistani bowlers will not be singled out again for their bowling actions,” he said according to the Dawn. Ajmal also added that Saqlain Mushtaq and Mushtaq Ahmed had helped him after being suspended from bowling in 2014. In the last week after announcing his retirement, the 40-year-old had also accused ICC of being too critical only with him and Hafeez as far as bowling action was concerned.
