MS Dhoni is in the last quarter of his illustrious career. He is into the 13th year as an international cricketer and has realized that it is best to keep mum whenever you face criticism.

Recently Harsh Goenka, the brother of Rajiv Goenka who owns the Rising Pune Supergiant franchise, trolled Dhoni when he couldn’t get quick runs in a tense chase which was finished by Steve Smith. He tweeted saying that “Smith proves who’s the king of the jungle”. He followed that by saying that the appointment of Smith as captain was a great move. This didn’t go down well with the million fans the star stumper has in India. Dhoni though didn’t react to this incident.

Goenka again took a jibe on Dhoni when he posted a statistic which showed the highest strike rate for all Pune batsmen. Dhoni, who hasn’t had much of a hit in the first two games, was the batsman who had the least strike rate: 73.91. He has faced just 23 balls so far this season and one can’t make a judgment on his performances so early.

To demean one of India’s greatest cricketers ever on a social platform wasn’t the best of moves from Goenka. Dhoni, who is hailed to have a cool demeanor, knows how to ignore the negativity as he has been doing that for a dozen years now.

Amidst the negativity, Sakshi Dhoni came out in support of her husband. She tweeted an anonymous phrase and tagged Dhoni’s twitter handle.

Dhoni, generally a man of very few words, must have liked the sweet gesture by his wife. A seasoned campaigner that he is, he will yet again shut people down by doing what he does best: winning games for his team.

RPS needs Dhoni to fire for them as well. He forms a crucial cog in the wheels of RPS’s batting line-up.
