Team India won a thrilling encounter in the finals of the Nidahas Trophy. The Rohit Sharma-led side were fittingly crowned the champions of the trophy. It was a last ball finish that saw the Indian side claim the ultimate glory. A six over the covers from the willow of Dinesh Karthik sealed the fate of the game. The good wishes have come in flooding and Sanath Jayasuriya has joined the list too.

The former Sri Lankan skipper congratulated the Indian team on their stupendous win. He also thanked the full house at the RPS, Colombo as he truly believed that the fans were thrilled to bits in the final encounter. Furthermore, Sanath Jayasuriya congratulated all the three participating teams for having a successful tournament.

Here is what Sanath Jayasuriya tweeted:

“Congratulations India on winning the Nidahas Trophy and full house at RPS supporting. Weldone to all three teams and @OfficialSLC,” Sanath Jayasuriya wrote in his tweet.

It is worth noting that the Sri Lankan fans cheered for the Indian team in the final game. This was largely due to the tensions built in the last league game between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. In all admittance, the Bangladeshi team did cross the line with their behavior. Shakib Al Hasan had gone to the extent of calling the players back in the final overs of that fixture.

Furthermore, the celebrations that the Bangladeshi came up with looked a little overboard as well. They crossed all limits and that was evident from the fact that they ended up breaking the glass window pane at the team dressing room. Certainly, the Sri Lankan fans were not impressed with these actions.

Hence, they all backed the Indian team in the finals of the tournament and even booed the Bangladeshi skipper at the presentation ceremony after the game. Team India also repaid the love shown by taking a lap of honor with the Sri Lankan flag.
