Sandeep Lamichhane made his list A debut back in 2016 and ever since he hasn’t looked back by any stretch of the imagination. He has grown leaps and bounds and has turned out to be a tough nut to crack for the batsmen. Currently, he plies his trade in T20 tournament across the globe. Earlier this year, he became the first player from Nepal to play in the prestigious Indian Premier League (IPL).
Thereafter, he went on to play in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and took the prized wicket of Australian stalwart David Warner. Back in October, the tweaker also played in the inaugural edition of the Afghanistan Premier League (APL). Now, the 18-year-old is all set to hone his skills for Melbourne Stars, captained by Glenn Maxwell, in the 2018-19 edition of the Big Bash League (BBL).
The confidence levels are there
Recently, Maxwell heaped praise on the Syangja-born talent and drew his comparison with Rashid Khan. “He’s probably not as strong and well developed but the way he has deception with his fast arm action (is similar to Khan). For such a young player, he’s a very smart bowler. Training with him at Delhi, it took me about two weeks to work it out,” Maxwell was quoted as saying in Fox Cricket.
“Before that I was just hitting every ball straight up in the air or getting bowled. He’s an absolute star. I saw the impact he had on the couple of games he played in the IPL, the confidence levels are there,” the 30-year-old from Melbourne, Victoria added.
Melbourne Stars are scheduled to play their first match tomorrow against Sydney Thunder at Docklands Stadium in Melbourne. Last season, the Stars ended as the cellar dweller with a couple of victories from 10 matches. John Hastings was the skipper last season.
