Tennis ace Sania Mirza didn’t miss her a shot against former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar. The twitter banter started when Sania Mirza received an awkward comment from Manjrekar on her tweet. The Indian tennis star was jubilant as she took the micro-blogging site citing 80 weeks of her stay at the top of the WTA women’s doubles rankings.
Sania has been on a winning spree since last 18 months. No wonder her stay at the top is only a testimony of her performances. When she tweeted about the same, Sanjay replied back correcting her statement. In her tweet Sania had written, “Today I complete 80 consecutive weeks as the number 1 player in d world. its been an amazing journey and just inspires me to work harder @WTA.”

Sanjay who is a television commentator now took very little time to indicate that she missed out on mentioning that she was the number one doubles player. He congratulated her but definitely the comment did not go down well with the tennis player. Manjrekar tweeted, “No 1 doubles player you mean. Congrats!

Sania Mirza was also quick to hit back saying that it is a well-known fact that she doesn’t play singles anymore. Sania has been featuring only in doubles events for quite a long time now. She participates in the doubles and mixed doubles categories at the Grand Slam events. She remarked that it is common sense to be knowing that she was referring to the doubles rankings. She mocked further saying common sense is not very common.

By this time, the commentator should have known this discussion had turned sour. For the experience that he has, he could have dealt with it in a better way. He, however, chose to reply again. This time, he tweeted, “Well, you missed out an important detail for someone like me who lacks common sense :)”

Sania put out another tweet for Manjrekar with a link to the rankings page. The link apparently had all the important details.

Things did not end just right there. Manjrekar chose to use a few cricket jargons in his reply then. He wrote, “Yes, the article also says No. 1 doubles player in the world. Said what I had to, will leave all balls outside the off stump alone now.”
