The recently concluded Women’s World Cup, 2017 saw a welcome rise in public interest towards women’s cricket; something that was much needed. What the tournament also did was to bring a lot of the women cricketers into the limelight. Sarah Taylor emerged as one of the exciting prospects of the tournament as she grabbed eyeballs with her stellar streak of 396 runs in 9 innings of the championship though she has always been a popular cricketer.

In a recent hilarious turn of events, a post had been doing the rounds on social media that made it look as though Taylor is a mother of two young children. The 28-year-old cricketer shared the same photo on her Instagram account and laughed it off, saying that the two kids in the picture were, in fact, her nephew and niece. Notably, the England wicketkeeper-batter fought an anxiety disorder to participate and perform in the World Cup.

Sarah Taylor posts a witty reply to an incredulous meme

The incredulous photo posted on social media saw a collage of two pictures of Taylor. While one of these pictures was of her donned in her national jersey, the other was in a playful mood with two young children. The caption of the picture read, “We can digest the defeat but hot to digest the fact that she is mother of 2 children?” Taylor re-posted it via Instagram and rubbished the content with a caption that read, “Safe to say I don’t have 2 children…but do have a niece and nephew!!”

Taylor’s heroics

She has accrued many feathers on her cap with her scintillating knocks over the years. In 2009, she was the fastest in Women’s cricket to amass 1000 ODI runs. She was awarded the T20I Women’s Cricketer of the Year, consecutively in 2012 and 2013.

In 2014, Sarah was named the ICC ODI Women’s Cricketer of the Year. Subsequently, in 2015, she became the first woman cricketer to play men’s grade cricket. Her journey is a truly inspirational one, as she battled a severe mental disorder where she was plagued by anxiety and panic attacks to make a glorious comeback for her team in the Women’s World Cup.
