Despite not making much of an impact with the bat, Chris Gayle didn’t have to worry much as the Royal Challengers Bangalore cruised to a 45-run win. While it was Gayle having an off day, 18-year old Sarfaraz Khan was having a field day against the SRH bowlers. He slammed 31 off just 8 deliveries as the Challengers completed their innings on a mammoth score of 227.
Chris Gayle and Sarfaraz Khan are perhaps the best of buddies. There are no two ways about it. They are always seen together during behind the scene web series. If Chris Gayle is to be believed, he revealed that Sarfaraz keeps texting him before stating that Sarfaraz was like a son to him.
“We get along well. Sarfaraz keeps texting me and the way he played today was fantastic. He’s too young and he’s like a son to me. He’s definitely one for the future and one must keep an eye on him,” Gayle was quoted as saying in a Zeenews report.
Aussie batsman Shane Watson too came out full of praise for Sarfaraz stating that he is an incredible individual. “He is an incredible young man and there is no doubt that he has worked extremely hard to get all kinds of shots right. The control over shots he has… Never seen before for a young talent like him. It shows he has practised hell of a lot, and we saw him this tonight.”
“What I saw tonight is as good as batting I have ever seen. He didn’t look like taking the risk at all in his entire innings. One shot he played off the backfoot for a six is an incredible shot to play, and he does it with so much of ease is really a pleasure to watch. He executes his shots incredibly well,” Watson further said.
