Pakistan lost their Group A match in the Asia Cup against India by eight wickets. Throughout the encounter, the Men in Blue had them on the mat and eventually won with 21 overs to spare. Prior to the match, Sarfraz Ahmed won the toss and elected to bat first and the decision backfired miserably for the reason that both Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq perished early.

Thereafter, things well downhill for the Men in Green as India didn’t give their opponent an opportunity to get a foothold into the encounter. The run-chase turned out to be one-sided as Rohit Sharma’s half-century took the sting out of the venomous Pakistani pace attack. After their defeat, Pakistan were again scheduled to play their arch-rivals in the Super 4 round of the event.

Sarfraz opts to bat first in Dubai

Quite expectantly, the Men in Green would’ve dearly wished to put their best foot forward in the same venue at Dubai International Cricket Stadium where they lost their first match against Rohit Sharma and Co. However, even this time around Sarfraz won the toss and had no hesitation to bat first despite the fact that they comprehensively lost the previous match of the tournament.

They made a couple of changes in the eleven. Shadab Khan who missed the last match found his way into the eleven. Mohammad Nawaz retained his spot while all-rounder Haris Sohail was sidelined. Fast-bowler Mohammad Amir also came in place of Usman Khan, who was taken apart by Afghanistan in their previous match.

In the meantime, Kevin Pietersen, the former English cricketer reckons that Sarfraz may come under the cosh if Pakistan go on to lose their second match in succession against India. He took to Twitter and wrote, “Pakistan HAVE TO win this game having chosen to bat first. If the don’t, the flood gates will open on Sarfraz & HIS decision!,”
