MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, the biopic of Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni released world over this Friday and among the many unknown stories revealed in the movie is that of an Under-19 Cooch-Behar trophy final between Bihar and Punjab from 1999 in which Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh featured for their respective state teams.

As per the movie, the Bihar side was folded up for 357 in the first innings while Punjab in their response were so substantial that they scored 839 runs. The major contributor for the team was Yuvraj who played a superb knock of 358 runs. Another striking feature of his inning was that he ended up scoring one run more than the entire team of Bihar.

In the movie Sushant Singh Rajput who is playing the lead role while talking about the match says, “Toh day 2 mein hum out ho gaye 84 run pe, pura team out ho gya 357 run pe. Punjab batting karne aata hai, unka pehla wicket girta hai 60 pe, fir batting karne aata hai Yuvraj Singh.

“Day 2 ke end ka score 108/1. Purey Day 3 mein sirf unka eke hi wicket girta hai.

“Day 3 ke end ka score 431/2. Yuvraj Singh double century, bahut maara, dhaaga khol diya ek dum.

“Last day – Day 4, Punjab ka total score 839… Yuvraj ke akele ka score 358, Bihar ke total score se 1 run jyada. Humko 2nd inning hi nahi mila.”

A lot of fans who watched the movie considered it to be a hypothetical match scripted by the makers of the movie to glorify Yuvi. But a look at the scorecard and one knows that it was all real and the southpaw had indeed played the scintillating knock that saw him outscore the entire opposition team.

As far as the hero, Dhoni is concerned he too had a good game with the bat definitely not as good as Yuvraj but he scored 84 runs in the only inning he walked out to bat.
