Scotland will host Oman and Papua New Guinea (P.N.G) in a Triangular ODI series that starts on Wednesday and be part of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2. In the opening game of the tournament, the visiting teams will clash off at the Mannofield Park in Aberdeen. This very venue will host all the six matches to be played in this tournament that last till next Wednesday.

Oman, led by Zeeshan Maqsood, has featured in only one ODI match till date. It was against Namibia this year which they ended up losing by 145 runs. Interestingly, P.N.G defeated Oman a day before their ODI debut in April also by same winning margin of 145 runs. The P.N.G team is led by Assad Vala who himself is the opener and a crucial all-rounder for his team.

Match Details:

The 1st game of the 2019 Scotland ODI Tri-Series is played between Oman and Papua New Guinea (P.N.G) will be hosted by the Mannofield Park in Aberdeen.

The match starts at 11:00 AM local time (10:00 AM GMT) (3:30 PM IST).

Last five completed List A matches:

Oman: L, L, W, W, L.

Papua New Guinea: W, W, L, L, W.

Weather Condition/Report:

The Tri-Series could begin with a washout as the chances of rain keep increasing from 1 PM local. We might have a good 30-40 overs of the first innings completed by that time considering a clear forecast in the morning. The pitch might get slowdown in the 2nd half if the rain continues.

Pitch Condition/Report:

The Mannofield Park in Aberdeen has a rich history but hasn’t hosted a professional match in the last five years. Considering the results of the games played till 2014, it is unlikely to witness big totals i.e. 300 and more.

There are a lot of players on both the teams who can excel with both bat and ball in the same game. However, the captains of both sides Zeeshan Maqsood and Assad Vala will be the game changers going into the match.

Captain – Zeeshan Maqsood, Assad Vala, Charles Amini, Khawar Ali.

Vice-Captain – Tony Ura, Chad Soper, Mohammad Nadeem, Bilal Khan.

Charles Amini could well be the top performer from this game given his recent batting form and the added ability to chip in with wickets.

Zeeshan Maqsood, Charles Amini, Norman Vanua and Chad Soper are a must in the all-rounders category. This meant only one out of Kiplin Doriga and Suraj Kumar can be picked among the keepers’ list.
