Scotland named a 13-man squad for the upcoming two-match One-Day International (ODI) series against Afghanistan in July. Most of the players who featured in the World T20 earlier this year have been retained.

The wicketkeeper-batsman Craig Wallace and the fast bowler, Brad Wheal are recalled and an uncapped player Ruaidhri Smith is added. Wheal made his international debut against Hong Kong in January and Wallace played his last match for Scotland against Ireland in June 2015.

“After a lean period of national fixtures, the squad is looking forward to coming together for the first time since the ICC World T20,” Grant Bradburn, Scotland’s head coach, said. “Despite some local and county players being unavailable for consideration for this series, we have brought together a very strong, exciting side on the back of impressive individual performances in domestic, regional and county cricket.”

Preston Mommsen is set to lead the side with Kyle Coetzer as the vice-captain. The 2 ODI matches will take place on July 4 and July 6 at the Grange Cricket Club in Edinburgh. After the series, Scotland will travel to Ireland for a five-match ODI series.
