Afghanistan and Ireland are scheduled to play a two-match ODI series that gets underway tomorrow at the Grange Cricket Club in Edinburgh. The Afghans are a part of the most-awaited World Cup in England and Wales, where they’ll start the campaign against Australia in Bristol on Saturday, June 1. The team recently removed Asghar Afghan as the ODI captain and appointed all-rounder Gulbadin Naib and this will be his first outing as skipper.
This is a golden chance for Afghanistan to get their combination in place. From their previous ODI series against Ireland, the visitors would’ve got a lot of confidence, though it ended in a tie. However, the Scots won’t be an easy proposition for them. Last year, Scotland took down England in Edinburgh and players like Richie Berrington, Kyle Coetzer, Matthew Cross and Callum Macleod add value to the side.
The 1st ODI between Scotland and Afghanistan will be hosted by the Grange Cricket Club in Edinburgh.
The match starts at 11:00 AM local time (10:00 GMT).
The game doesn’t have any telecast in India.
Tomorrow’s match could probably see a washout with rain predicted throughout the day. Moreover, the intensity of the downpour won’t come down with the lowest chance of rain being 49 per cent. The temperature will be around 7 degrees Celsius and humidity is expected to be in the 80s.
The pitch has produced some high-scoring affairs in the last few matches. However, the bowlers could get some help under the overcast conditions. The track has favoured the team, batting first, but keeping in mind the rain, the sides may opt to chase a target.
